Rescue Me ID: 15-09-22-00090Dex (male)

Cockapoo    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Overall, Dex is a great dog. He is 4 years old, house trained, listens to basic commands, doesn't run away when off the leash or gets out of the house, and adapts well to energy levels of the owners. He is perfectly content laying around all day or with playing ball (by far his favorite activity) and going on walks. He is perfectly healthy and has just recently received updates on all of his shots. He has some issues with possessiveness when it comes to food and certain toys and will become aggressive when he fears that a person or other dog is endangering his right to that food/toy. With a one year old child in our house who is ... (Read More)beginning to walk, we can no longer work around these issues. We have owned Dex since he was a puppy and he hasn't taken well to no longer being the center of attention. He has displayed aggression when the baby touches him, so we assume he is not good with kids. He does well with other dogs so long as food or certain toys do not get involved, as explained before. Dex does get timid and anxious with strangers as well, but quickly becomes friendly once he realizes they are not a threat (usually through interaction with the owners or by playing ball with them). These issues can certainly be worked around, but we think Dex will do best in an environment where there are no kids and infrequent visitors. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cockapoo in Ohio
Cockapoo Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. A Cockapoo is a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. Cockapoos are friendly like Cocker Spaniels and shed very little like Poodles. Cockapoos are good family pets and may exhibit a wide variety of characteristics usual in either Cockers or Poodles. A Cockapoo may be half Cocker and half Poodle or have much more of one strain than the other.
