Rescue Me ID: 16-07-19-00272Bella (female)

Cockapoo    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 04/02/2016 Reason for being in rescue: Bella was turned in to a southern shelter because her owners said she had become aggressive with the grandkids. She was adopted and returned because she was possessive over food - in the shelter and at the poodle farm, Bella has had no issues whatsoever an she is slowly losing weight as she is now on a healthy diet With no history of aggression we placed Bella but sadly her food aggression returned. We're now looking for a dog savvy owner who can work with food/resource guarding and understands that this is an ongoing management issue. We feed Bella in a crate - feed her always in ... (Read More)a crate with the door closed and we think you'll have a good companion. Because of Bella's history, she will not be placed in a home with children under 18. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? overweight Weight: 38 lbs needs to be 25 Height: about 14 inches at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $229 Fence needed? No Bella was turned into a local southern shelter by her owners because they said she was becoming aggressive with the grandkids. She was adopted from the shelter and returned for being possessive over food. Bella then came to us here at CPR and despite multiple attempts we could never trigger these behaviors. Bella was adopted from us and again returned for aggressively guarding the couch and biting the man. Basically, Bella is resource guarding, she is protecting any item she feels is valuable, (food, bones, beds, etc) and is afraid approaching people are going to take it away. Bella needs a home with someone that is experienced and willing to work with her on this issue. She needs a confident leader that will be consistent and give her lots and lots of structure. Bella would greatly benefit from basic obedience training, especially the place, out (give or drop it), and leave it commands. What kind of home would be best for me? Bella needs an owner who understands that food is NOT love, that loving a dog means providing the right balance of food, exercise, and direction. She would love a walking partner and friend. Absolutely no children. We don't know what happened in her first home but do not want to give her or children a chance to interact together in ways that may hurt Bella. Bella's best home will be one that is quiet, thoughtful, experienced and understands that she will not 'get better' or 'get over' resource guarding but it can be controlled. I think Bella would do best with a laid back, canine companion to help her learn to romp and play. Exercise is always more fun with a friend. However, she would be fine as an only dog also. What is my personality like? Very laid back How I act when I first meet new people: Bella says hello and then goes about her business. She does not force affection on you but will happily be part of the group . House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Est birthdate 3/11/2009 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. PIease Read Before Adopting a Cockapoo in South Carolina
Cockapoo Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. A Cockapoo is a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. Cockapoos are friendly like Cocker Spaniels and shed very little like Poodles. Cockapoos are good family pets and may exhibit a wide variety of characteristics usual in either Cockers or Poodles. A Cockapoo may be half Cocker and half Poodle or have much more of one strain than the other.

lnteresting Cockapoo Trivia Low-Cost South Carolina Spay & Neuter Clinics
Cockapoos come in widely different sizes that have different names, such as the Teacup Toy Cockapoo or the Maxi Cockapoo. Because Cockapoos are hybrids, it is difficult to predict the characteristics puppies will have based on the characteristics of the parents. Cockapoos, like both Cockers and Poodles, may suffer from luxating patellas or loose knees.
